Piglets 2024
Piglets 2024

The 2024 growing season was definitely one for the books. We really felt like we hit our stride and found a good work/life balance. Our calf/cow operation moved along smoothly with great rewards, the pigs grew wonderfully and produced one of our best batches of meat we’ve seen in a few years. The garden was abundant and despite the lack-lustre potato yields, we were still able to sell well into October.

We’ve spent a substantial amount of time over the years trying to educate the public on meat production, organic agriculture and sustainable eating practices. Last year was probably the first year that I felt heard/seen, with so many customers reaching out for more information and even more making local a priority.

With store prices skyrocketing, it was easy to show patrons how local farmers are working to reduce inflation and keep your costs down, the benefit to shopping local was in their receipts.

Unfortunately we don’t see prices coming down in the stores any time soon, but we are working hard to bring you more variety and larger quantities in the upcoming year.

You can expect to find the same great organically grown produce with a few additions like sweet potatoes and onions, as well as eggs, pork and possibly beef. As always we encourage bulk buying and preserving in the fall and so we have planned accordingly for those looking to stock up for winter.

The Jerseyland fridge will be up and stocked again this year, as well as our stall at the Grand Forks Farmers Market. We know that it can be difficult to make it to either pick up location before it’s picked clean, so we also offer pre-paid reservations, you can either phone in your order or place your order online for pickup at either location on scheduled days.

Making good food accessible to the masses is a huge part of why we farm, and finding new ways to make it easier for folks to get their hands on it, is always a work in progress. We are always open to new ideas and ways we can improve our methods of distribution.

Check out our “sign up” page to submit names or organizations that could benefit from donated produce, place your own name on our newsletter list, or request a reminder for produce/meat restocks.
